She’s already in one Hall of Fame, and she’s a couple of months away from being enshrined in a second. Paula (Keller) Holtman was inducted in 1993 into the Millikin University Athletic Hall of Fame for all her Big Blue softball and basketball achievements. She graduated in 1988. Now, District 61 will recognize her for what she did as a Stephen Decatur standout student-athlete in basketball, volleyball and softball when the recent class is feted at an October 18 luncheon followed by the actual program at halftime of the MacArthur at Eisenhower football game at Alexander Field. Her parents are Robert and Karen Keller.
You’ll read more about them below as she tells the story about how they have impacted her athletic life. At SDHS, Keller averaged 17.1 points per game and four assists. In softball, she had a .390 batting average. “I have been truly blessed to play sports throughout most of my life. I owe it to God for giving me athleticism and to my family and friends who supported me. I am humbled and honored to be inducted into the District 61 Schools HOF as I know how many gifted ladies I was privileged to play with and against throughout my school years,” said she in our recent phone conversation.
