Mac On Sports: Clutts Provides Beckemeyer Update

Kate Beckemeyer

Chuck Clutts is in his last spring coaching the Parkland College Cobras and offered these thoughts on the play of his freshman from Maroa-Forsyth, Kate Beckemeyer. “Kate has adapted quite well to college ball. KB keeps adding to her softball skills that she already have,” wrote Clutts about the former Trojan.

“She is hitting .375 with six doubles, two triples and one home run. Kate has 20 stolen bases with being caught only one time. Kate plays left field, shortstop, and pitches for the Cobras with a 3.30 ERA. “Kate’s knowledge and skills of base running is outstanding. She is one of the few I have ever had, who I let run whenever she wants to. KB is an outstanding softball player, teammate and student,” concluded the Cobras coach, who is retiring at the end of this season.

He also said there is no doubt in his mind that Kate can play at the next level, saying, “Kate can for sure go on and play at the next level. After we played the University of Illinois last fall, they invited her to a camp.”
