Mac on Sports: Nature Wreaks Havoc on CIC Tourney

J. Thomas McNamara

With the polar vortex striking the Midwest, including Decatur and central Illinois, Warrensburg-Latham officials have advised changes in the boys tournament have been made.
Tonight’s (Tuesday) semi-final games have been moved up an hour with start times at 5 and 6:30 instead of 6 and 7:30.
Warrensburg-Latham meets St. Teresa in the 6:30 nightcap with Tuscola and Central A&M playing at 5.
Wednesday night’s consolation games have been canceled entirely and moved to Saturday afternoon at 3 and 4:30 with the Hawks of Meridian playing Clinton in the earlier time and the Rams of Shelbyville meeting the Redskins of Sullivan at 4:30.
The Friday night games for third place and the championship stay the same at 6 and 7:30. The losers of tonight’s two games play at 6 for third with the winners meeting for the championship at 7:30.
St. Teresa is the defending champion and has won two straight tournament titles, but has lost to Warrensburg-Latham twice this season by 11 points each time.
I will have more on this developing in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune.
