Thompson New Eisenhower Grid Coach

J. Thomas McNamara

Steve Thompson is the new Eisenhower Panthers football head coach following Decatur school board approval at their meeting tonight (Tuesday).
Thompson brings over 16 years of football coaching experience to the Panthers program, including four seasons as an assistant to retired LSA head coach Craig Bundy. He also coached four years at Oakland High School, now Tri-County. He’s also served as defensive coordinator at Romeoville.
I will have more on this developing story in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune, including an interview with the Eisenhower athletic director, who will retain those duties.
There’s an earlier story in this week’s print edition where Thompson told this newspaper that an announcement from District 61 would be forthcoming “soon, sometime soon.” Now we know what it meant.
